چکیده

“Green” monopropellants based on hydroxylammonium nitrate (HAN) are of interest for replacing highly toxic hydrazine in space propulsion systems and other applications. However, their combustion mechanisms at high pressures not well understood. In the present paper, decomposition HAN up to 15 MPa was studied with differential scanning calorimetry, while an aqueous HAN/methanol solution (70.1 wt% 14.9 methanol) a strand burner 30 MPa. The experiments both setups were conducted nitrogen environment. It has been shown that temperature significantly decreases increasing pressure from atmospheric 2 remains virtually constant further decrease is explained by suppressing evaporation HNO3 H2O formed during process. have revealed increase linear burning rate over 50% 12−14 MPa, reaching critical liquid. Other observed dependencies include 9–12 plateau 14–19 20 22–30

Aqueous mixtures to supercritical temperatures and at high pressures

Thermophysical properties of dense supercriiicai water with special emphasis on dielectric permittivity are discussed. Phase diagrams and some critical curves of the binary systems H20—H2, H2O—N, H20—02, H20-CH4 and H20-He to 450 °C and 200 MPa are shown. H20-He tas a type I critical curve. A rational equation of state to calculate phase diagrams and critical curves for polar—non polar systems ...

Rocket Combustion Properties for Coaxial Injectors Operated at Elevated Pressures

A new facility has been built at the University of Michigan to study shear coaxial combusting gas-gas injection in a rocket combustion chamber. This facility, capable of chamber pressures of 10 atmospheres, is used to obtain a better understanding of the complex fluid dynamics and combustion processes found in rocket combustion chambers and to provide data to assess NASA’s computational fluid d...
